The Nordparadies

The Nordparadies was built at the beginning of the 15th century, when a new porch was built on the northern transept.

On its facade, above the entrance, there are sculptures of the Mother of God and of Saints Godehard and Epiphanius. The three-aisled vestibule was used for liturgy as well as for meetings. This building was donated by the Hildesheim cathedral waiter Lippold von Steinberg.

A portal leads into the cathedral from the Nordparadies, to the east of which is the chapel of all the cathedral patrons (Steinberg Chapel). Above the altar of the chapel, reliefs of a passion altar from the beginning of the 16th century can be seen. The walls are decorated with frescoes depicting the Hildesheim cathedral patrons.
