Public guided tours

Participation in a public guided tour is particularly suitable for individual visitors and small groups of less than 10 people. The tour provides a general overview of the cathedral and its art treasures.

Tickets for the public guided tours can be booked online or purchased directly in the cathedral foyer/entrance to the Cathedral Museum. It is not possible to reserve tickets. The number of participants is limited. It is advisable to purchase tickets in advance, especially at weekends. 

The meeting point for the guided tours is the cathedral foyer/entrance to the Cathedral Museum. 

Public guided tours of the cathedral

Participation fees for public guided tours

  • 5,00 € per person
  • Free participation in the cathedral tour for children up to 6 years.

The meeting point for the guided tours is the cathedral foyer. Tickets can also be purchased there.

Cathedral tours for groups

Individual cathedral tours can be booked online or by telephone. The cost for group tours with up to 25 participants is €90.00. If you book a cathedral and museum tour at the same time, the tour fees are €70.00 each (reduced). There is a 14-day advance booking period for individual cathedral tours.

The general cathedral tour can also be booked in foreign languages. Dates and availability by arrangement.

For guided tours for groups, a thematic focus can be set on request. This must be arranged in advance by telephone with the Cathedral Information Centre.
Possible thematic focal points: Theology, liturgy, remodelling of the cathedral, architecture, building history, Hildesheim bronze casts, Bishop Bernward, Bishop Godehard,...

Tickets are available in the cathedral foyer or in the online shop.
