Offers for children

There are numerous programmes for children: From guided tours of the cathedral for school classes and children's groups to public tours and discovery tours. The programmes are aimed at different age groups and there is something for everyone.

Cathedral tours for school classes and children's groups

Guided tours with children and young people are organised in an age-appropriate and lively way. In consultation, the focus can also be set here and, for example, references can be made to topics covered in class. Possible topics: The church interior and its furnishings, UNESCO World Heritage Site, history of the cathedral and diocese, the bishops Godehard and Bernward, biblical stories (with reference to the various works of art), ...

A reduced fee of €70.00 per class/group is charged for groups of children, schoolchildren and students.

For church groups (communion children, altar servers, confirmation groups, ...) an additional reduction of the tour fee is possible on request by telephone.

Please contact the Cathedral Information Centre to arrange the content and dates: Telephone 05121-307770.

‘Discovery tour of the cathedral’ educational programme

By engaging with a floor plan, the children learn how to read it and thus gain an overview of the unusual space in which they find themselves. The participants go on an exploration tour in small groups and draw the paths they find on their floor plan. Particularly interesting places are then visited together. This creates a dialogue about the significance of the individual stations or works of art that can be seen there.
